Film History Gives You a Tour of the Big Apple

French artist Candice Drouet, otherwise known as Really Dim, takes us on a tour of New York City in her new two-minute supercut, the latest installment from her My Life In 1,000,000 Frames video project. The video compiles a montage of brief clips that elucidate how the Big Apple has been portrayed throughout cinematic history. Drouet cuts shots from what she claims are all the movies she’s ever seen in her lifetime and organizes them into short vignettes by motif.

Earlier this month she’s released a similar supercut, Paris, In Movies, that explores the City of Lights in the same fashion. Drouet seems to favor John Carpenter’s Escape From New York in this chapter. If you look really closely you can even spot a sweaty closeup of Snake Plissken himself. This is the first of a three-part supercut visit to New York, so keeps your eyes peeled for more.
