Afternoon Animation: PES Returns With Deep Sea Stop-Motion

His 2010 film, The Deep, was finally uploaded to YouTube this week, and you won't be disappointed.

PES (ne Adam Pesapane) is arguably the most famous stop-motion animator working today, this side of Michel Gondry and Jan Svankmajer. His 2013 video, Fresh Guacamole, holds the record for being the shortest film ever to be nominated for an Oscar, and all of his other joints have become YouTube click-bait (Western Spaghetti is my favorite).

His 2010 film, The Deep, was finally uploaded to YouTube this week, and you won't be disappointed. The clip is a deep sea adventure that mixes Steve Zissou with Tim Burton (with a dash of metal tools and machinery). Watch the clip and froth at the mouth as you wonder how long it took him to make such an imaginative work.
