Amazing Photographs From A Moving Train

Long exposure shots from New Transit Yurikamome that turn autodrive into warp drive.

Rail travel can sometimes be a bit of a drag, especially when commuting. But as with everything, it really depends where you’re travelling and how you look at it. The experience of passing through dreary, industrial landscapes of an inner city, for example, is in stark contrast to driving through the open countryside.

In an urban environment it’s all about envisioning the unseen beauty, and that’s exactly what photographer AppuruPai has done with these long exposure shots of the New Transit Yurikamome, an automated service running from Tokyo through the artificial island of Odaiba in Japan. With the long exposure, the journey becomes beautifully tunnelled streams of light and movement, giving a kind of warp drive effect that would be just at home in the cosmic environs of space.
