Though you may be at your wit's end when it comes to end of the year roundups, we wanted to make things easy for our readers and put all of our Best of 2013 lists together in one succinct spot.There were many good ones around the web, but few sites that zoned in on both the best GIFs and the best viral art installations of 2013. So kill some time before you head to the warzone known as your public shopping outlet, and revisit our best picks from the past year.
We started things off with the Year in Emojis, including emoji wallpaper, art history, and iPhone apps. After we published this list, Oneohtrix Point Never released an emoji-centric music video that even got its own transcription on AdHoc.
Rather than arbitrarily pick our favorite clips of the year, we decided to do a throwback and organize our favorite videos, high school year book style. We awarded superlatives to our favorite artists--including Most Spirited for Beach House's "Wishes" and Class Clown for Mac Demarco's "Dreamin".
Our Viral Style columnists put together the craziest things they found at the intersection of fashion and technology this year--from fake digital girlfriends to the work of Asher Levine and Will Fry.
Believe what you want, it's pronounced "jif" like the peanut butter (though, to be honest, we still use the hard "ga" sound).
