Brush Up On Your Iconic Houses With This Elegant Architecture Animation

Take an animated crash course on some of the most iconic houses in architecture.

Architectural experts and structural design newbies alike can appreciate Iconic Houses, a rapid crash course in famous houses animated by Italian graphic designer Matteo Muci. The short animation captures the essence of each design, breaking it down into its formalistic components—a great guide to aesthetics, both for dabblers in architectural appreciation, and for seasoned designers.

The images are reminiscent of the work of fellow countryman Federico Babina, who creates collections of pun-based fusions of architecture, design, and pop culture, such as Archimusic, an interpretation of pop songs interpreted in the style of iconic buildings. Muci, however, is developing a style all his own, imbuing his work with brisk motion and his own musical composition.

His subjects range from the classic Farnsworth House, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, to Falling Water, by the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright. The cheery tune makes the whole piece approachable for novices those with no experience in the field, and relaxing for those who have studied these buildings ad nauseum for years.
