Build LEGO Cities On Google Maps

Stop what you’re doing right now and go waste some time building virtual LEGO cities.

If Minecraft isn’t enough to satisfy your building-structures-from-blocks cravings then here’s good news—Google and LEGO have teamed to let you build LEGO structures onto Google Maps with Build With Chrome. The only catch is you can only build in Australia and New Zealand because the project is commemorating 50 years of LEGO in Australia.

First up, you get allocated a plot of land, and then you can get started with the construction. For this you can choose from a variety of LEGO bricks and extras (a door and a window) then set about building your Archigram-inspired avant-garde masterpiece or that holiday villa overlooking Bondi beach.

But if you’re thinking of building a giant phallus in the Outback, think again—all the buildings get vetted before being published. But once vetted and approved, they’ll live on the map for people to discover and visit.

Here’s a selection of what people have built so far.
