We’re pretty used to seeing David Macklovitch and Patrick Gemayel (aka Dave 1 and P-Thugg of Chromeo) making wisecracks. When we caught up with them on tour in Paris, Dave 1 joked about his persona—a “neurotic jew take on the loverboy-thing,” and how they got into electro-funk because it seemed to be the “most unpopular music” among their peers. But the duo will be showing a bit of their serious and sensitive sides as they join in the fight to end AIDS.Tonight, November 29th (World AIDS Day), Chromeo is teaming up with Belvedere Vodka to put on a free outdoor show in NYC’s Meatpacking District. The “outdoor club” at Gansevoort Plaza will feature a Chromeo DJ set, as well as a light installation and 20-foot-tall “neon trees” (not the band, we’re guessing).The event is being thrown as a tribute to raise awareness for RED and cause’s efforts to have the first AIDS-free generation born by 2015 and eventually eliminate the virus.@CreatorsProject
