Coming Soon? Duff Beer from 'The Simpsons,' IRL

Mmm... Beer.
Screencap, via.

The iconic brew flowing through the streets of Springfield in The Simpsons is finally here, IRL. After years of attacking brewers with intellectual property lawsuits, FOX has decided to go with the (frothy, delicious) flow, licensing Duff beer to be sold to Simpsons fans and beer snobs alike.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the first country to legally distribute Duff will be Chile. In the past, the nation has been a hot bed of nefarious Duff production, with thousands of bottles of counterfeit frosty frequently seized by police. Fox's move to legalize is therefore an unapologetic economic offensive, providing an official product to fit the insatiable demands of their Chilean consumers. From Chile, Fox plans to expand throughout South America and across the Atlantic into European markets with hints at eventually (hopefully) extending the product to U.S. stores.  As for the taste, president of the media company’s consumer products division Jeffrey Godsick gives a compelling critique: “It’s a premium lager,” he says. “It’s got a very good balance of flavor and refreshment to it. It’s fairly deep golden in color. It’s got a hint of fruit to it. It’s got a caramel aromatic to it.”

A stellar review by all standards—even though, as he concedes, he's not a big beer drinker… D'oh!
