Command a Flying Sailboat in This Virtual Reality Music Experience

Immerse yourself in a series of surreal worlds with "FINDR-VOIDR."

Embark on a new 360-degree virtual reality musical voyage in digital artist FINDR's "FINDR-VOIDR." The artist has created a interactive experience that rotates through a series of surreal digital environments. One second you're traveling on a flying sailboat, passing by a snowy mountain peak, and in the next, you're descending into a high class virtual cocktail party in space. At one point, the viewer travels towards a light, passing by weird hieroglyphic thresholds through a tunnel made up of what look like circuit boards, all set to the pulse of the kind of thumping dance music you'd hear in The Matrix trilogy.

FINDR produces all of the music he uses in his VR work himself. He has a Soundcloud page full of of his original tunes. He tells The Creators Project that the experience he created in VOIDR is an adaptation of a short story by Julio Cortazar, The Night Face Up, “mixed with a DMT trip.”

The musical journey is designed for the Oculus Rift and other VR headsets, and was featured at an immersive installation at this years III Points Interactive Festival in Miami, Florida. Online media players like YouTube and Littlestar, however, allow you to watch a sort of VR proxy version, using your mouse or arrow keys to look around instead of moving your head. Check it out below:

This is a follow up project from FINDR’s interactive 3D soundscape album he released two years ago called "FINDR’s LOCAL," an interactive world where you explore labyrinths and castles that hold the tracks to the album and clues to an underlying story.
