Six internationally renowned artists have been summoned to the Art Gallery of Hamilton in Ontario for their new kickass contemporary art exhibition, are you experienced?. The show features a diverse group of artists working in a range of mediums from painting to sound art. Among the exhibition’s short roster is South Korean artist Do Ho Suh, known for his creative building replications, as well as Jessica Eaton, whose experimental photographs produce abstract, geometric beauty, sans software.

According to the gallery’s website, the collection of works engage all of the senses, encouraging active viewer participation and “making a point that an engagement with art can sometimes occur more readily if one does not have preconceived notions of what it should be.” Each work was commissioned by the gallery and created to be site-specific, filling up the venue’s large exhibition rooms “floor-to-ceiling.” Installation artist Olafur Eliasson's work, Triple Ripple, for example, plays with shadow and perception by shining a spotlight through a row of hanging glass.

The Art Gallery of Hamilton hopes this exhibition will “appeal to the viewer’s psychological and intuitive senses, or memory… promoting visual and aural awareness and engagement." In addition to the aforementioned artists, are you experienced? includes work from Nadia Belerique, Dorian FitzGerald, and Hadley+Maxwell.
