Creating the Set of Blade Runner
Before there was computer generated imagery, moving makers still had to figure out innovative ways to create artificial cities to blow up. In this 6-minute mini-doc, Douglas Trumbull shows and tells how Blade Runner’s futuristic-apocalyptic set was built, including all the fans that were needed to blow under the table the model of someday L.A. sat on, because the fiber-optics for all the miniature city lights got so hot.
