Creators Remix Roundup: Jamie xx, Yuksek, And Diplo

“Take Care” gets a music video, Yuksek livens up “Brother,” and a reggae take on Usher’s “Climax.”

Our Creators are a talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always overflowing with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Drake feat. Rihanna: “Take Care” prod. by Jamie xx

If listening to Drake‘s “Take Care” rings any bells, it’s because it’s basically a refix of Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx‘s "I’ll Take Care Of You" plus Drake’s additional lyrics (almost void of Scott-Heron’s grit) and the addition of Rihanna‘s “come hither” refrain. The song just got a video, and it’s worth watching for the cinematography itself. We bet you won’t be able to watch this one just once.

Stuck In The Sound: “Brother” (Yuksek remix)

To be completely honest, French band Stuck In The Sound‘s lo-fi indie rock kind of reminds me of watching my high school friends play shows in their parents’ basements back in the day—“Brother” seems dated, and not in an exciting or nostalgic way. That being said, Yuksek does a good job of amping up the vibe and kicking some life into this otherwise noncomittal track. The difference is night and day.

Usher: “Climax” (Jr. Blender reggae remix) prod. by Diplo

Nothing says “summer” like a good reggae jam, and we can officially ring in summer 2012 thanks to German mixmaster Jr. Blender of the Supersonic Sound collective. Blender took the Diplo-produced, smooth R&B track and added original instrumentation that you can’t help but relax to. We want what Blender’s having, and man is Usher’s voice beautiful. Let us also point out that it’s pretty odd and amusing seeing Usher looking all frustrated in the video, since this remix version uses the original footage.
