Creators Remix Roundup Week 16

Nacho Lover, a Mira Calix and Brian McOmber (Dirty Projectors) collaboration, and NEW Gang Gang Dance.

Our Creators are a very talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always cluttered with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Korallreven: “Honey Mine” (Nacho Lovers remix)

Nacho Lovers, two producer/DJ friends signed to Fool’s Gold Records, make music that can be described, loosely, as house. According to their bio: “Nacho Lovers is a feeling. It’s music made for 4am speaker stacks and mid-day bedroom headphones alike, where atmosphere is everything.” Here they take Korallreven’s introverted pop track and change the atmosphere from spaced-out hammock rock to a jam fit for gently announcing ‘last call.’ Tell us if you don’t agree.

Tansy Davies: “Greenhouses” (Mira Calix and Brian McOmber rework)

British composer Tansy Davies sourced the lyrics for “Greenhouses” from emails sent by a now deceased American peace activist working in Palestine. Mira Calix and Dirty Projectors drummer, Brian McOmber add some experimental flavor to the somber track by adding drums, cymbals, and echoey harmonized vocals. Who knew remixes could help spread peace?

Kele: “On The Lam” (Patrick Jackson remix)

According to his YouTube channel, Patrick Jackson likes to play basketball, make videos, sleep, and play music. His occupations include vLogger/YouTuber, musician, and music reviewer (sort of) for ‘Me Industries’ and ‘Patrick Jackson Inc.’ Additionally, he also really likes remixing Kele. Here is his version of “On The Lam” off Kele’s debut solo album The Boxer, which you can remix yourself here. If you’re more into “Tenderoni,” Patrick has a remix for that one too.

CREATOR BONUS TRACKS

Gang Gang Dance: “Glass Jar”

Though Gang Gang Dance’s fifth album Eye Contact won’t be released until May 10th, the Brooklyn-based experimental synth band have just debuted the 11-minute album opener “Glass Jar,” which kind of makes up for the fact that they haven’t released an album since 2008. We can’t wait to hear the rest.

Marcelo Camelo: “ÔÔ”

Four days ago, Marcelo Camelo released three 30-second teasers over a three day period for his new single “ÔÔ”. On the fourth day, yesterday, our ears were graced with the complete track. The acoustic, bell-accented Portuguese rock is such a treat alongside so much synth and electronica. Our only complaint is that the video doesn’t include the live footage that the teasers did, but you can’t eat your cake and have it too.
