Creators Remix Roundup Week 24

We know it’s only April, but we might have the mashup of the year…

Our Creators are a very talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always cluttered with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Diplo: “Nicki 3-6 House Mafia Bells”

Back in January, we showed you an unusual but awesome collaboration between Diplo and Sleigh Bells. This week the producer has used their track “Kids,” as the foundation for a mashup including Nicki Minaj’s “Did It On Em,” Swedish House Mafia’s “One,” a touch of Diplo’s signature dirty whompy bass, and a beat from Three 6 Mafia… as the title alludes. The music blog, Pretty Much Amazing, is already calling it one of the most inventive mashups of the year, so give it a play and tell us what you think.

Uffie: “Wordy Rappinghood” (prod. DJ Mehdi)

Paris-based electronic musician Uffie recently reinterpreted Tom Tom Club’s 1981 hit “Wordy Rappinghood” to show us what words are worth (still something) 30 years later. Produced by fellow Ed Banger Records cohort, DJ Mehdi, “it’s a rap race, with a fast pace,” which is maybe why it’s featured in a new Evian commercial.

Yuksek: “On A Train” (The Magician Remix)

French remix master Yuksek is set to release his sophomore album Living On The Edge Of Time this June and the first single, “On A Train” (previously credited under the disguise of “Mega Mystery Band”) will be released next month. Since it’s already available online, the appropriately elusive DJ known as The Magician has picked up the track and fixed it up with a funky organ sample and very clean drum beats.
