Creators Remix Roundup Week 28

We’ve got tons of fresh tracks headed your weekend’s way.

Our Creators are a very talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always cluttered with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Missy Elliott: “Work It” (DJ Wordy and DJ Soulscape remix)

Frequent collaborators DJ Wordy and DJ Soulscape have been hard at “Work[ing] It” on an album under the moniker WordySoulscape, and the duo has released this groovy remix of Missy Elliott‘s oft-remixed classic. Download it here, and see for yourself how well WordySoulscape’s soulful horns match with Missy’s musical stylings. The WordySoulscape 2011 album dropped this week, and is available for download from DJ Wordy’s website.

The Horrors: “Still Life”

Creator Joshua Third and his band, The Horrors, released a track earlier this week from their upcoming third album, Skying, set to come out on XL Recordings this July. Bandmate Faris Badwan describes the album “as straightforward as it could be,” and “Still Life” shows us just that.

Brodinski and Yuksek: “Fire Flames”

Here’s a subdued track from two equally talented Creators. Brodinski and Yuksek dropped this “Fire” a few days ago, and its swirly synths are dark, but definitely danceable.

Diplo and Steve Aoki: “Sacred Peyote”

This one’s a teaser for sure. Diplo and Steve Aoki don’t show a hint about their mixtape’s upcoming release date, but they do show us a dog. Watch the DJs pal around with Photo Booth’s mirror filter and some peyote-inspired disguises. While the track’s on rotation, feel free to take a look at this week’s Vanity Fair feature on Diplo’s travels through Trinidad and Tobago.

The Black Lips: “Modern Art” (prod. by Mark Ronson)

We told you about The Black Lips’ new single, “Modern Art,” off their forthcoming Mark Ronson-produced Arabia Mountain a few weeks ago, and now you can stream the whole album on Grooveshark. Arabia Mountain officially drops on June 7 from Vice Records.

Depressed Buttons: MIXMEAT II

We’re longtime fans of Depressed Buttons and their many side projects. Diplo signed these guys to his Mad Decent label, which is offering a free download of their latest mixtape here.
