According to the commentary version of Phoenix's new album Bankrupt! (available on Spotify), "Trying to Be Cool" was one of the first songs the band started writing for the album, but one of the last that they finished. We're not sure why it took so long, but we couldn't be happier with the result. We've already seen the band play the song live on Letterman and SNL. Now so they've sent us its stems.Stems, for those who aren't aware of the technical jargon, are the individual components that make up a song (drums, vocals, horns, keyboards, etc.). You can download the stems below, and then remix them using whatever software or hardware you prefer. Don't hesitate to add in your own vocals and instruments, as well as any other changes you see fit.Download the stems here: https://soundcloud.com/phoenix/sets/trying-to-be-cool-stems/s-fWWwtOnce you've finished your remix, send it to us on Soundcloud via this DropBox widget. Over the next few weeks, we'll share some of our favorites on the blog.Send us your sounds One last note: If you haven't yet, you can purchase Bankrupt! here: http://smarturl.it/BankruptFor more on Phoenix, watch Noisey's documentary In the Studio:
