Gamers' Actions Become Rendered Artwork Drawn By A Robot

Seb Lee-Delisle’s Lunar Trails physically plots the trajectories taken by people playing Lunar Lander.

The actions of someone playing a video game aren’t usually considered artworks, but that hasn’t stopped people from turning them into one. From Evan Roth’s Angry Birds All Levels to the above installation at the Dublin Science Gallery for their GAME exhibition.

Called Lunar Trails by Seb Lee-Delisle it lets people play the 1979 Atari arcade game Lunar Lander, which sees them navigating a lunar landing craft to touchdown on the moon’s surface.

As they’re trying to land the craft the path they take is traced on a wall by a hanging drawing robot—as more people play the image gets more intricate and complex, as their individual journeys amount to a sprawling mass of weaving lines.
