Ambitious Hotel Embedded On A Cliff Face Will Look Like A Giant Picture Frame

OOIIO Architecture's crazy hotel will sit on a cliff looking out over the Pacific Ocean.

Everyone loves a room with a view and this hotel, perched on a cliff face near Lima in Peru, will give you an uninterrupted one looking out towards the Pacific Ocean. Called Unbalanced Hotel and featuring 125 rooms, it might look precarious from the concept designs but this is what Spanish firm OOIIO Architecture will be building for a private client.

The client wanted to create something that would be recognized worldwide, a landmark, so the architects designed a structure to be nestled in a vertical cliff face—an unusual place for a hotel, sure, but definitely unique. And it might look like it has the center missing, but the idea behind that big hole is that it will frame the landscape (rather than ruin it) and the city of Lima so people can look out at the view like they're looking at a picture hanging on a wall. Except this will be hanging on a rock.

Whatever you think about how insane the location might be, you've got to admire its ambition. And it's upped the game something major for cliff top/seaview hotels.
