Hyped: The Week In Links 9/21

Busy week? Here are some things you may have missed.

On the blog this week we looked at Stan VanDerBeek as our Original Creator, took an in depth look at the funk levels of B. Bravo & Teeko’s “The Roll Out” in LAYERS, and discovered how Daniel Buren and 1024 architecture transformed Monumenta for Bal Blanc. We also looked over our Beijing event and took a stroll around the city with Real Estate. We met DJ Soulscape’s soft pop alter ego Espionne, checked out some leather shoes with 3D printed soles, took a look at interactive web series Dirty Work, marveled at the most insane LEGO machine ever built, and reported on a data visualization sculpture created using Twitter reactions to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

And in the tentacles of the network, this was going on…

· Ze Frank released a collaborative song made by 2,601 people called “2601 People Wrote This Song.” The video (a still from it is above) was created by layering the different submissions, in case you thought you were seeing double. Or triple. Or 2,601-ple.

· Here’s another musical collaboration, this one rivaling the likes of Queen and Bowie, Cash and Dylan, Cave and Minogue. It’s Ben Folds Five and Fraggle Rock with “Do It Anyway.” Hit it!

· A Bad Lip-Reading does The Hunger Games. You will LOL.

· Apple’s new iOS 6 maps are ridiculed in the tumblr The Amazing iOS 6 Maps.

· DARPA creates a threat detection system that uses “mind reading,” scanning a user’s brain for images that they’ve seen, but haven’t yet reached their conscious mind.
