Hyped: The Week in Links 9/30

Busy week? Here’s some things you may have missed.

So this week we’ve been busy wrapping tin foil around our heads in anticipation of scientists stealing our thoughts. While over on our Original Creators column we looked at the man whose novels could’ve conceived of such a reality in the first place: sci-fi maestro Philip K. Dick. We constructed a blog post on modular, portable housing and looked at the animated works of some mysterious Russians(?). We also considered some artistic responses to the faltering US economy, questioned an interface artist, and virtually peered into the digital homes of 90s netizens.

· Happy Days: The Fonz gets the 8-bit treatment in this short pixel film Fox Retro. Also features cameos from a pixelated Mr. T and a Pac-Man Gary Coleman, and more.

· Remember the 90s? It was a time when people would excuse any action with the words “It’s the 90s!”. Everything Is Terrible! have collated a video of such people from TV and movie land, so all together now: “It’s the 90s!”.

· Lolwut? MAD regurgitates some old memes to make a cartoon, much to the annoyance of YouTube commenters.

· Internet pharaoh Hennesy Youngman of Art Thoughtz fame went to the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago to discuss Millennials, people born between 1980-1990. The result is, like, total mega-lulz.

· “Someone had a grade A lungfish decorate their home for a merry fool’s function”—So says presidential hopeful Rick Perry. Well, when he’s being bad lip read anyway.

· Can a computer game help the US Army defeat the Taliban? Maybe.
