Some think [baking is a science](http://thecreatorsproject.vice.com/en_au/blog/we-baked-jackson-pollocks-prize-winning-apple-pie), but look no further than [Georgia-Rose Fairman](https://www.instagram.com/georgiafairman/) for proof that it's also an art. The assistant to sculptor [Phyllida Barlow](http://thecreatorsproject.vice.com/blog/revolution-celebrates-70-years-of-abstract-sculptures-by-women) fuses her art world experience with skills picked up in [the prosthetics industry](http://thecreatorsproject.vice.com/blog/customizable-prosthetics-make-a-bold-beautiful-fashion-statement) to create eerily realistic cakes resembling a chicken, a pig's head, and more recently, human skin. Her work has [appeared in _Vogue_](https://www.instagram.com/p/9qSm7aGBSc/?taken-by=georgiafairman), she's been profiled by _The New York Times_, and she [made a dead mouse cake for _Munchies UK_](https://munchies.vice.com/en_uk/articles/georgia-rose-fairman-made-us-a-dead-mouse-cake) ([not to be confused with deadmau5](http://thecreatorsproject.vice.com/blog/deadmau5-and-sol-republic-team-up-to-create-worlds-first-headphones-for-cats)).

According to _Munchies_, Fairman began by baking a realistic roast chicken cake for a friend's birthday party, which she had never done before. Now she's elevating the medium made popular by shows like _Cake Boss_ with uncanny confectionary. She can spend days on a single cake, ranging from the disembodied lips above to the still life ackes, sculptures of the nude human form, and the other fine art tropes peppering her Instagram feed.
