The future gets a much-needed dose of octane in the trailer for the upcoming sci-fi car chase extravaganza, Ickerman, directed by French filmmakers Raphaël Hernandez and Savitri Joly-Gonfard. In just two minutes, we see a Brave New World-type dystopia dominated by self-driving cars, towering fascistic holograms, and a mysterious baddie with some kind of techno-psychic powers. In the middle of it all is a rugged, beaten-up narrator, driving a Steve McQueen muscle car in the midst of a world that has become one big CES gadget.

There's car chases, faceless enemies, and superpowers—what more could you want? The film's name comes from the directing duo's pseudonym, Seth Ickerman, under which they've put out the teaser. Made with just over $1,000, the mini-film strings together straightforward directing, smooth editing, sleek design, detailed art direction, and believable VFX—all handled by the two men alone. The final ingredient is a suspenseful score composed by pop musican Robin Coudert. Seems like they've got the recipe to keeps us intrigued.

There's no date announced yet for the feature-length version of Ickerman, but you can keep up to date on the official website.
