#Creators Live At The Creators Project: Paris 2012

Join the immersive photo experience at our Paris event this summer.

Doug Carmean’s mission is to transform the way we interact with computers, shifting us away from the screen-staring we’ve been doing for decades and into something more interactive. With #Creators Live, which premiered at The Creators Project: San Francisco 2012, he’s taken a leap in that direction.

Developed in association with Social Print Studio, and building on research by Intel Labs, where Carmean is Director of the Efficient Computing Lab, the project allows users to interact with Instagram photos, controlling the scrolling and shuffling functions using movements of the hand. Aside from the technical feat of turning a plain wall into a massive touchscreen, #Creators Live turns what was previously a strictly onscreen experience into a fully immersive one, reacting to the users position and action.

Carmean recently spoke to us in detail about the the development of the project, describing the “perfect marriage” of technological and artistic entities that made this project such a success. #Creators Live will be part of The Creators Project: Paris 2012, which kicks off on June 19th. If you’re attending and you’d like to be a part of this monumental installation, take some snap off some Instagram photos and tag them #Creators to join the stream on the wall.
