Insta of the Week: Hot Tea Freezing in -40° Air

Flash frozen water is beautiful, but kind of frightening when you think about it.

Canada is one of those places that seems like it should have 87 different words for "cold." Pictures and videos from Canada usually make me want to jump directly into a furnace. Case in point, Michael H. Davies' latest snapshot from Ontario, where it's 40° below zero—that's the point where Celsius and Fahrenheit both give up and mean the same thing. Davies captured his friend Markus jettisoning a thermos of boiling tea into the wind, creating a frozen mohawk around the setting sun. The image is really beatiful, but when I remember that I am made up of 60% water I just think that's a place no humans are meant to go.
