Though he's best known for performing in bands such as Lightning Bolt, Black Dice, and now Soft Circle, multi-talented, multi-media artist Hisham Bharoocha has also been garnering attention for his prolific instagramming.Acculmulating almost 30,000 followers, and hundreds of likes per post, Bharoocha is part of a broader digital "aestheti- grammer" community that favors simple, abstract shots. Born in Niigata, Japan, Bharoocha attended RISD College in Providence, Rhode Island where he studied video and photography, later meeting fellow artist Brian Gibson and founding Lightening Bolt.After Lightening Bolt, Bharoocha went on to work with several other high-profile groups, including Japanoise band Boredoms.In additon to music, Bharoocha is also an accomplished artist (see below), with past solo exhibitions at D' Amelio Terras Gallery in New York, and group exhibits at Deitch Projects, John Connelly Presents, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. His work has been published in Artforum, V, i-D, Flaunt, Tokion, and many more.
