Installation Combines Interactive 3D Projection Mapping, Robotics, And AR

White Kanga’s new technology ups the game for projection mapping.

Interactive multimedia collective White Kanga have teamed projection mapping with robotic servos to make dynamic visuals where the surface and the mapped images can both move around in real time, which means that objects can magically transform into something else—the white boxes in the video above become shimmering metallic forms, meaning our reality can be further augmented.

With this sort of technology you can start to imagine a future where our living rooms are transformed into a football stadium, the front row of a concert, the plains of Africa, the surface of Neptune, the Galapagos Islands or… you get the idea. It’ll be approaching the kind of world that Factory Fifteen’s Paul Nicholls envisioned in his short film Golden Age – Somewhere (below).
