Jeanette Hayes Aces the Faceswap | Insta of the Week

The Met's new contemporary art annex has become a playground for memesters and net artists.

One painting stands out from the rest at the Met Breuer's innagural exhibition Unfinished: Thoughts Left Visible. Anton Raphael Mengs' Portrait of Mariana de Silva y Sarmiento, Duquesa de Huescar (1775) hangs amid a sea of partially-painted canvases, meeting visitors gazes with an eerie lack thereof, as Mengs never got around to putting a face on his subject. The Met Breuer's Instagram location page is currently topped by a picture of the portrait captioned, "When ur too tired to put on ur makeup," but we think internet artist Jeanette Hayes nailed Mariana's potential by deftly using a face swap app to give her a face.

It's creepy as hell to see Hayes left faceless, but not as creepy as the vapeswap:
