With all the technology at their disposal, animators are spoilt for choice when it comes to what software or method they want to use. But sometimes you can’t beat the good old fashioned methods, like paper—and lots of it. In a new music video for Josh Ritter‘s “Love Is Making Its Way Back Home,” video-making collective Prominent Figures labored with over 12,000 pieces of construction paper (that’s sugar paper for us Brits) to make the animation above.The video was premiered on Etsy yesterday and took a team of 20 to make—from artists to editors and directors. While the end result may have been crafted by humans, the project actually started out digitally as a computer animation before the storyboard was transformed into paper cutouts.The video follows a guy driving through the night to make his way home and builds from a two-tone aesthetic to a color-saturated trails-ridden climax.
