To coincide with the release of his new album, 12 Bit Blues, Kid Koala’s giving away cardboard turntables.

Sometimes with all this technology constantly driving things forward, it’s good to take a step back, to mix it up a bit and go lo-fi. And you can’t get more lo-fi than cardboard, which is what Kid Koala has used to make a turntable from, and is giving away with the first run of CDs and LPs of new album 12 Bit Blues.

And it’s not just some ornament that you can impress your cardboard-loving friends with, it works just like a real turntable as you can see in the video above and below, where you get a guide on how to use it and put it together. Like, making sure you distribute the weight evenly or you could find yourself stuck in a loop. Stuck in a loop. And if all else fails he recommends trying the old penny on the needle trick, a classic.
