Liquid Magnets Power a Killer Minimalist Clock

The unforgiving arrow of time moves in a constant, forward-flowing motion. This is the truth held highly by artist Damjan Stanković, a.k.a Hellorhei, and executed in collaboration with Marko Pavlović: a conceptual clock called Rhei.

The mobile fluid that builds the clock's face is the magnetic madness that is ferrofluid. Because of the ferrofluid's highly responsive magnetic force, the clock will never show the same image twice. Rhei uses it's unique structure to play with the medium ground between digital and analogous time.

According to the artists' description of the minimalist device, "There is a middle ground between the analog and the digital sphere, where the rules of mechanics and the laws of nature come together in order to create a liquid illusion reminiscent of a contemporary, digital form."
