Live Park Is "The World's First" Physical And Virtual Amusement Park

The world’s first 4D virtual reality theme park.

Besides glorious roller coaster-induced stomach drops, body-warping mirrors, and some serious fried food, amusement parks are fertile breeding grounds for some of the most advanced behind-the-scenes technological experiments. Live Park, by Korean interaction and cross-design company d’strict, is the world’s first “4D Art Park,” using body-tracking software like Kinect and RFID-enabled bracelets to mix the physical and virtual experiences.

Once you step into the park, you set up an avatar at the Ender Mirror, which will stay connected to you throughout the park via your RFID bracelet. Then you’re free to explore interactive art and music installations, play virtual reality games, check out holographic performances in the world’s largest 360° theater (bring on the 2NE1 and Justin Bieber), and even help choose the ending to interactive cinema features.

The park was set up temporarily just outside of Seoul, but plans for permanent fixtures in China and Singapore are already in the works. We might even see similar parks coming stateside to LA or Vegas soon… fingers crossed. Check out photos of some of the attractions below.
