Major Lazer Recruits M.I.A. and Thom Yorke

Major indeed.

For the uninitiated, our inaugural creator, Diplo, is also half of a DJ duo with longtime collaborator-friend Switch called Major Lazer. Following their 2009 debut album, Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do, the team is now prepping to release their follow-up EP, Lazers Never Die, on July 20. In all likelihood, it’ll be in constant rotation everywhere through the end of the summer season and beyond.

We’ve heard a few tracks already and can attest that the record is a five-track potpourri of high-wattage Jamaican dancehall. To take it that extra yard, Major Lazer has enlisted the help of M.I.A. and also secured a remix of an old favorite by Radiohead’s resident figurehead, Thom Yorke. This should give you at least an inkling of all what to expect from the EP. Here is the full list, just in case:

1. Sound of Siren (featuring M.I.A. and Busy Signal)
2. Good Enough (featuring Collie Buddz and Lindi Ortega)
3. Bruk Out (Buraka Som Sistema Mix)
4. Can't Stop Now (K.L.A.M. Remix, featuring Miss Banks)
5. Jump Up (Thom Yorke Remix)

If you’re eager to hear these tracks sooner rather than later (and you happen to be in Europe), Major Lazer is sure to deliver a taste of what’s to come when they play Cologne and Berlin at the end of this week. If for some insane reason you do not have the first Major Lazer release, we suggest you go get it immediately.
