Meat, flesh, and sex abide in Oda Jaune's latest body of work, Blues Skies. The Bulgarian-born, German-trained, and now, Paris-based artist laughs in the face of labels, taking figurative painting to a whole new level by exploring the generally intimidating realms of imagination, appropriation, and obsession. Her highly personal and vividly tactile style is marked by a resolute optimism coupled with a liberated vision free from practical conventions, hence the fairy tale name of the exhibition, which will be on view at the Galerie Templon in Paris January 9 through February 20, 2016. The exhibition will be a glimpse into her inner world, where “she subjects [her obsessions] to a constant process of change and reinvention” and “unashamedly explores the images that lurk in the subconscious” through skillful craft and emotional beauty.
