The Force is with design firm MAD Architects, who will be designing the forthcoming George Lucas Museum.

It's been over a month since George Lucas decided to house his George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Chicago, and the details of its archecture and design are emerging with an exciting revelation. MAD Architects—known, among other things, for the curvy, organic-looking towers in Mississauga, Canada and the Pingtan Museum's artificial island—have been selected to design the structure, which will rest on the Chicago lakeside.

Founder Ma Yansong (who we previously covered in a documentary) responded to the announcement, saying, "It is a gift to be able to design the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in a city so rich with architectural history. I am humbled and honored to be given this opportunity to create a timeless design that moves and inspires people just like Mr. Lucas’ collection."

Despite Ma's humility, his firm is a great fit for the project. The Museum of Narrative Art will be MAD's fourth time tackling an art museum, and the location near Chicago's famous lake shouldn't be difficult to deal with, since they once constructed an entire island to support a previous museum design. The museum says it chose MAD for its innovative design approach and "philosophy of connecting urban spaces to natural landscapes," which is in line both with the the lakeside setting, Lucas' own sci-fi speckled career, and the idea of a museum docimenting narrative storytelling's development.

The Museum of Narrative Art's exhibits are going to be built upon Lucas' own private collection of Star Wars memorobilia, as well as classics like Rob Roy (c. 1910) by Howard Chandler Christy, Happy Birthday Ms. Jones (Study) (c. 1956) by Norman Rockwell, and Rango (2011) by Industrial Lights and Magic.

Once it's ready, we'll be sure to zip over and check it out on our new hoverbikes while wearing our freshed Star Wars-themed outfits.
