We don't need any excuse to take pictures of ourselves in front of art, but yesterday we got one in the form of #MuseumSelfieDay. While The Mona Lisa and Frida Kahlo's iconic self-portrait got their fair share of Insta-love, the far and above winners were Yayoi Kusama, Jeff Koons, and James Turrell. Their various exhibits around the world, plus art selfie-takers' backlogged snapshots, yielded a dearth of prime self-portraiture. Perhaps this popularity is because each of these artists' work allows the viewer to put their own ego, their own self, at the center of the art-consuming experience. Or, perhaps it's just because they're pretty. Either way, enjoy some highlights from the three art giants' work, plus a few personal favorite museum selfies, below.A photo posted by Arendse Rohland (@arendserohland) on Jan 20, 2016 at 12:34pm PST
