New Video Reveals Banksy in Gaza

He's baaaaaack.
Screencaps via

With the exception of a few rare sightings, a handful of hoaxes and an unfortunate act of vandalism vandalizing, all's been quiet on the Banksy front since Better Out Than In, his New York City residency, concluded on October 31, 2013. Today, the legendary street artist reveals new works in Gaza alongside a short, documentary featurette entitled Make this the year YOU discover a new destination.

In the video, four new pieces make their debut: the image of a statue holding its head amid bomb damage in Gaza City, the silhouette of children riding a chair swing from a surveillance tower, a statement written in red on a wall, and a giant kitten wearing a pink bow that looks like it’s playing with a yarn ball made of gnarled rebar. Explains Banksy on his website, “A local man came up and said 'Please—what does this mean?' I explained I wanted to highlight the destruction in Gaza by posting photos on my website—but on the internet people only look at pictures of kittens.”
