3D-Scanned Sculptures Create an Alternate Universe in this Short Film

The characters in ‘Night Stalker’ are thrust into a parallel 3D-animated world populated by eerie clay figures.

The short film Night Stalker by New Media Ltd starts out normally enough, opening with a cute couple’s karaoke date. But it quickly takes a left turn, as their toxic take-out food sends the woman into a digital 3D animated hellscape. “We’d been experimenting with making stuff out of clay and then 3D-scanning it and putting it into the computer and then rendering that stuff out," says New Media Ltd’s Mike Anderson in a behind-the-scenes short on the film’s creation. They also 3D-scanned the face of the film’s star, Maya Kazan, and used it to top their clay creations. The result is a creepy, incredibly intricately made short film. Make sure you trust your take-out place, folks.
