Philip Glass’ Compositions Get New Versions From Pantha du Prince, Amon Tobin, Beck And Others

The American composer’s songs get remixed in a tribute album.

It's not news to anyone that minimalist composer Philip Glass’ work has inspired a lot of people in the music and art scene, but some artists who were directly influenced by his compositions decided to pay tribute to him by remixing some of his songs and putting them all together into an album. The record is called Philip Glass_Rework and features contributions from our creators Pantha du Prince and Amon Tobin, in addition to remixes by Beck, Cornelius, Dan Deacon, Tyondai Braxton, Memory Tapes, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Nosaj Thing, Peter Broderick, Silver Alert, and My Great Ghost.

The album will be out in two formats, double CD and double LP, the latter including a special code for downloads. And since the homage is for Mr. Glass, a special glass-like vinyl edition will be pressed (originally produced with silver material), but limited to only 500 copies. The official release date is November 13th, but the album has been available for pre-order since October 23th at the Philip Glass_Rework website.

Meanwhile, listen to Pantha du Prince’s remix of “Mad Rush Organ” in the unofficial video below:
