Pixar Tribute Spans 20 Years of Emotional Ass-Kicking

Pixar has the secret to storytelling down pat. Here's why.

Few creative groups have consistently put out as much emotionally satisfying work as Pixar. 20 years ago almost to the day, Pixar made its A-game known with Toy Story, a tale so rich that its characters are just as compelling in its third iteration as the first. Since then, modern classics like A Bugs Life, WALL-E, Finding Nemo, Up!, and this year's Inside Out have continued their reign. On top of that, Pixar has a slew of short films known for making butterflies flutter in your stomach and winning Oscars.

Sourcing a segment from Toy Story and WALL-E writer director Andrew Stanton's TED Talk about good storytelling, filmmaker Kees van Dijkhuizen, Jr. has put together a great tribute to the animated films that have rocked our world for the last two decades, called Pixar: 20 Years. Van Dijkhuizen combines the avalanche of familiar faces and narrative wisdom with Michael Giacchino's heartstring-tugging score from Up!, reminding us all how much Pixar kicks ass at making us feel all the feels.
