Sam Fogarino of Interpol Talks New York, New Band Members, and New Technology
Interpol is back on tour with new bassist Dave Pajo and Brandon Curtis of the Secret Machines on keyboards. Our NY event was their first New York show since they started up again, and the enthusiasm in the crowd was palpable. We spoke for a moment with drummer Sam Fogarino after their set. “This is where we’re from and it seemed like the people lined up on 14th Street didn’t forget it," Fogarino said.
He was also impressed by the breadth and depth of artwork and performances at the event. “The Nick Zinner exhibit and, you know, Spike Jones film opening, I mean, under one roof that’s pretty amazing,” he said. He discussed his excitement about working with Pajo, and compared their work together to the kind of artistic collaboration that was going on that night at Milk studios. “To come across somebody you respect or might just be curious about it is great,” Fogarino said of our event and Pajo, “See, he would have been one of those people, if I’d met him on the road I’d be like, Oh, wow.”
