Travel to the depths of the ocean, discover massive kelp forests, and dodge shark attacks on Sensorama’s new ride, Vix. Specializing in “building compelling, ultra- immersive, next generation simulation thrill rides that blur the lines between fiction and reality,” Sensorama now launches launching its newest and most immersive ride yet at Shopping Praía da Costa in Vila Velha, Brazil.Visitors walk through an exhibit outlining the origins of the mission, perusing historical artifacts, maps, and future objects about the spaceship. They are then led into the ship and shown objects that have been found on past journeys. The ride itself is experienced from a 24-seat platform installed with sophisticated motion mechanisms in front of a curved screen onto which ultra-high quality images are projected for a visceral sight to complement the high-tech speaker systems. Powerful scent machines and custom-designed air filtration systems pump smells in and out of the room for an even more immersive experience.

“As the ride accelerates through a narrow passage of land, guests will feel their hair blowing in the wind, simulating the sensation of levitating through thin air, subtle forest fragrances are filtered into the space as guests journey through the forbidden forest, while soft hints of mist are emitted once the ride plunges towards the deep ocean. All culminating into an unforgettable immersive experience.”Sensorama is a transdisciplinary project headed by Lucas Werthein, Marcelo Pontes, and Felipe Reif. By “questioning the status quo of current business and entertainment models, [they have discovered] new forms of innovation and creative expression. This is the story of what happens when you combine the skills of an architect, a product manager, creative engineers, animators, a team of collaborators and give them a collective challenge,” Werthein said in an e-mail to The Creators Project.
