Simpsons Fan Creates a Bloody, Beautiful Couch Gag

Lee Hardcastle remixes 'The Simpsons' with 'YOU'RE NEXT' and the results are terrifying.

It seems like more of a Halloween treat than a Christmas miracle, but budding Adult Swim animator Lee Hardcastle's holiday gift to the internet is this superbly disturbing take on The Simpsons couch gag. Hardcastle made the animation—a mashup with Adam Wingard’s eccentric horror flick You’re Next—using Play-Doh, but it's definitely not meant for children.

While Hardcastle's Simpsons remix doesn't necessarily have Matt Groenig's blessing, plenty of filmmakers have had the opportunity to do their take on the couch gag. Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon made an excellent Rick and Morty-style Simpsons intervention, as have Banksy, Guillermo del Toro, Robot Chicken's team, Triplets of Bellville director Sylvain Chomet, Bill Plympton, and Rejected! animator Don Hertzfeldt.

Hardcastle's take is, er, different from those other ones. We don't want to spoil anything, but let's just say Play-Doh blood has never looked this realistic.
