Today, the New Britain Museum of American Art announced the a shining, site-specific installation by Soo Sunny Park, titled Boundary Conditions. The light-responsive piece evolves on the museum's LeWitt Staircase by adding interlocking, stainless steel grids, woven with various types of Plexiglas, that cast refracted light onto the dark gray walls of the building.

According to the press release, "The installation blurs the line between painting with pigment and painting with light. Depending on the season and time of day, the installation changes from refulgent and prismatic to subdued and shimmering." It's a geometric stunner, and arguably one of the most flattering designs towards that oft-desired Cinderella-style debut.

Park added, “As a whole, the installation is neither the central form nor its shadows, but the structured space between them. Light, in this piece, does more than allow us to look at things. It reveals the rich structure of the liminal space we inhabit.”

The installation will be in place for two years, offering art fanatics plenty of time to check out the liminal, undulating structure. Park has already proved herself adept at imbuing spaces with light-bending, mathematical, and awe-striking installations; check out her past work, Unwoven Light, at the Rice Museum website here. The installation's opening reception is on Sunday, March 9th from 2:00-3:30pm at the New Britain Museum of American Art in Connecticut.
