Strapping A Camera To A Drone Results In The Most Insane Surf Video

Eric Sterman's "Pipeline Winter 2013" imagines what "Endless Summer" would look like if it was filmed today.

We already know that GoPro cams enable film hobbyists to become a cross between a bird and DIY, stunt camera-man. It has since been proved that the possibilities of the extreme sports-ready tool can be upped a notch, though, when paired to a flying, human-less drone. The Creators Project has already detailed new photography in the age of the personal quadacopter, and we've spotted videos of camera-drone hybrids capturing stunning aerial views of surf spots. The above video of expert surfers crushing waves in Oahu's Banzai Pipeline, however, may be the cream of the extreme crop.

Photographer Eric Sterman's clip, Pipeline Winter 2013, imagines what Endless Summer would look like if it was filmed today (though let's be honest: using Lindsey Stirling for the soundtrack doesn't live up to the tunes in the 60s surf classic). This is what the future of sports videos will look like--drones cruising high over snowy mountain tops or Hawaiian tidal waves as they capture the every move of the world's top (and most brazen) athletes. The Jackass crewcould certainly find some interesting uses with the GoPro-drone combo.

Sterman's video is epic in every sense of the word, and we pray that there's a follow-up that focuses solely on John John Florence. Until then--get lost in the swell, bro.
