[Summer Break of the Future] Escape to This Invisible Barn

Spend a reflective weekend in this mirrored outpost.

The perfect weekend escape is nearly here. One where your worries, your in-laws, your e-mails, your archnemises —anyone, actually—cannot find you. Invisible Barn from architecture firm stpmj, blends into its surroundings through its specialized reflective film sheeting. The mirrored structure is an architectural illusion: mimicking the trees, sky, and ground in nearly perfect reflections.

Stpmj designed the building for the UC Berkeley, Sagehen Creek Field Station, housed in the woodlands of Truckee, California and while the narrow design of the "barn" may not foster long-term living, plywood incisions look tailor-made for al fresco reading rooms and breezy loveseats.  Our hopes: first step field station, next step undercover cabin.
