The whole LED fashion thing has reached disturbing new heights with implantable, ultra-thin inorganic LED sheets. The arrays can be placed under the skin, stretched by up to 75% and are encased in silicon rubber so they are waterproof and able to sustain immersion in biofluids. The implications for biomedicine could mean implanting patches for monitoring wounds, triggering photosensitive drugs, suturing, and for use in diagnosis.
