Having established a reputation for grand and inventive music over the course of five albums in seven years, Anthony Gonzalez and company swung for the fences with 2011’s Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming. The ambitious double album, three years in the making, turned out to be a massive success, lauded as the perfect progression of M83’s sound. Following the record, the band released a slew of videos including a pair for the first two tracks off of Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming that told the continuing tale about a group of kids with special powers escaping from an asylum. Yesterday, we premiered the final chapter of this trilogy, the music video for “Wait” made with support from The Creators Project.We also got a chance to sit down with Anthony Gonzalez to chat about the evolution of his band’s sound as reflected on the critically acclaimed new album and how the its theme of childhood memories relates to the tale of Fleur & Manu‘s video trilogy. “Cinema is a big influence for me,” says Gonzalez. “This album is built like a soundtrack, like an imaginary film, and this is what we tried to convey with this trilogy.” He also touches on the band’s recent video for “Steve McQueen” and the use of M83’s music in film trailer for Curt Morgan’s The Art Of Flight, among others.Photo Credit: Timothy Saccenti
