These Animated Fashion GIFs Are Too Hot For 4Chan

Subtle movement puts the va-va-voom in fashion photography.

One thing the internet (and Harry Potter) has over the tangible, glossy pages of fashion magazines is the ability to animate photography. But until magazines start art directing full-blown animated fashion spreads made especially for the iPad (hint, hint), it seems like Tumblr will continue to be the hot spot for these super subtle stylized fashion GIFs.

Last February, photographer Jamie Beck, in collaboration with motion graphics artist (and now fiance) Kevin Burg, became an instant internet sensation after posting their animated GIFs or “cinemagraphs,” as they’ve taken to calling them, on Beck’s Tumblr. They’ve since made a separate website that exhibits all their fashion-related work.

Over the past few months we’ve seen several artist come out with GIFs that take fashion photography to the next level with the flutter of an eyelid, the shimmer of a sequin or the subtle flap of Anna Wintour’s bob. Check out some of our favorites below and learn how to make your own cinemagraph here.
