TOKiMONSTA's Video For "Darkest (Dim)" Induces A Dream State On A Budget

Director Doug Chang’s visual treatment for one of Brainfeeder’s trippiest artists.

Did a rabbit just run by, or did you just hallucinate that? One of producer TOKiMONSTA’s ethereal, infectiously lethargic tracks gets a transcendental video treatment from director Doug Chang. Fitting the theme of the Creature Dreams EP it originally appeared on, the video for “Darkest (Dim)” depicts TOKiMONSTA as a sort of bunny costume-clad dream DJ in a control room filled with dream panels, little engraved windows that channel light into their various designs.

Our dreamer is vocalist Gavin Turek, whose dream TOKi accidentally breaks, forcing her to improvise. An explanation for your debilitating recurring nightmares? No. But as the product of a fairly modest Kickstarter campaign, the team behind “Darkest (Dim)” did a remarkable job of creating a convincing otherworld on a $4,000 budget.
