Tokyo Becomes A Toy Town In Tilt-Shifting Timelapse

From a towering vantage point atop the Tokyo World Trade Center, this timelapse video makes the metropolis look miniaturized.

Looking down on a city from above offers a strange perspective on humanity—our everyday lives and most prolific achievements look insignificant, as if we're just a bunch of ants, wind-up cars, and dollhouses. At the same time, all our problems and stress seem to disappear from such great heights. DarwinFish105's recent timelapse of Tokyo underscores this odd, vantage-specific sensation through tilt-shift technique that turns one of the most populous cities in the world into a toy box.

Shot from high inside the Tokyo World Trade Center, WTC Building Observatory Tilt Shift spotlights several distinct parts of the city, from a horizon populated by bright skyscrapers, to a serene garden housing a picturesque koi pond. As with any great timelapse, the people of the city are the real stars, zipping through their lives in double time, flowing through roads and paths like streams of water.

WTC Building Observatory Tilt Shift paints a picture of Tokyo that both highlights the omnipresent stimuli within the metropolis and makes it appear innocuous. From that high up, everything looks like a playful game outside of reality.
